Gr. 4-6. Published before the 2002 Winter Olympics, this biography introduces figure skater Michelle Kwan. The story begins with her birth in California to Chinese American parents who supported Michelle and her sister, Karen in their childhood dedication to skating. Following Michelle's career chronologically, the book notes milestones in her competitive skating as well as changes in her approach, style, and image over the years. The colorful photographs, generally of very good quality, take up more space than the text. A serviceable introduction to Kwan, for larger collections.
