Amazing! The characters are so real & the plot is addictive. Highly recommend!!
Loved First time reading a book by Paula Hawkins. Definitely will not be my last.
The Girl on the Train Average/Disappointing!
I was really excited about this one, as so many people were raving over how good it was at the time I read it. Unfortunately I found it hard to get into – nothing much happened in the first 100 pages. Characters were too depressing and pathetic. Not really fond of novels where woman are written as victims who don’t do anything to help themselves, even when they start to figure out somethings wrong. Mystery wasn’t that clever or original. Liked her writing style so will try her next book, but hope it’s better than this one.
The Girl on the Train This book is for you if you have a preference for behavior based on emotions and feelings. This book also features surprises, such as a surprise ending and people whose characters are increasingly shown to be surprisingly complex.
I did not like the book. Some authors are accused of manipulating the plot. I accuse this author of manipulating the characters - only three men and three women, and they have a town's worth of character traits and history. I can tell that the author is female because she bases behaviours on feelings and intuition rather than on logic or rational thinking.
The girl on the train Unfortunately, not to my liking. I've got to page 98 and decided not to continue. A bit "dark" for me. Pleased I gave it a go all the same.
