Before the Fall Thrillers and suspenseful reads are not my first choice but I enjoyed this book for the characters, writing style, and page-turning "tell me more" pace. This was a story that I could immediately visualize as a film and I wouldn't be surprised to see it on our screens. The final chapters were a letdown for me but others in my bookclub felt the opposite. I'd recommend this for an easy-to-read / easy-to listen to exciting story.
Compelling and very well written. There are a disturbing number of characters who are sociopaths, and the author's depiction of how cruelly and selfishly people can act is upsetting. One character remarks to another, "what an ugly world you live in" and that was one of my reactions when I finished this book.
A slowly unfolding mystery (Staff review) Eleven people get on a plane ... 16 minutes later, only 2 survive after the plane crashes. Scott is a down on his luck painter who ends up becoming a hero after rescuing the 4 year old son and now the only surviving member of a rich and powerful media family. The story is told through chapters weaving between the investigation of the crash and the back stories of each of the passengers. As the book unfolds, we find out how each person came to be on that plane and slowly uncover the mystery of what caused the plane to crash. The book had a film or television quality that had me wanting to get to the next "episode" to find out what happened.
GREAT BOOK Loved this brilliant read. Characterization excellent and gripping story which weaves back and forth between characters and times. Found the writing excellent and the main character, Scott, a very good man.
Before the Fall brilliant read, deep plot and riveting to the end
