PRR Suggestion Author Deborah Crombie is an American who writes deliciously literate mysteries set in England. Like Elizabeth George''s mysteries, Crombie''s series features expertly constructed plots and characters whose personal lives frequently become tangled up with their work as professional investigators. A Share in Death introduces readers to Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James, who meet when a body turns up at the time share where Kincaid is, off all things, supposed to be on vacation.
A SHARE IN DEATH Having read a more recent book in this series I wanted to go back to book 1. I liked the series and the characters and story development of this author and will probably read the entire series. Having started with the most recent I found it interesting that 20 years have elapsed and the baby has only gone from 2 to 6. Definitely a fun series though~
Great beginning! Ms. Crombie is a wonderful storyteller. 'Share' is the first in a series of her books that introduce you to a fine and diverse cast of charaters & entertain you with a delightful mystery!
Crombie, D Fans of P. D. James, Peter Robinson, and Elizabeth George will enjoy this long-running mystery series featuring Scotland Yard detectives Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James. One of the most enjoyable things about this series is the character development. The relationship between Duncan and Gemma anchors the series, having progressed over time from professional and straightforward to personal and complicated. It’s not necessary to read the entries in the series in order, but it helps to fully appreciate how the relationship between Duncan and Gemma has developed over the years and to better understand some of the background, which is referred to in later entries. The first entry in the series is A Share in Death. ***
