Very relatable I enjoyed this book. There were a lot of things said that made me think of Juniata county. Some of the story was very sad but also relatable. Overall a pretty good book
Hillbilly Elegy Well written and engaging!
J. D. Vance describes not only his world but the world of many others who immigrated from other parts of world to build a life, and find that family life is not perfect. He sums it up well in the final chapters.
Thank you J. D. your book enlightened me, helping me to understand my own family dynamic even though my ancestry is Eastern European, it still applies.
Game changer Will not regret reading this
Hillbilly Elegy This book kept my interest (especially since my background is from the Appalachia area). I found much of the book relatable and true to the area of which it is focused. J.D. Vance writes with truth and the hardships he overcame as a young child. An excellent read for better understanding of the Appalachia people and area. Enjoyed the book thoroughly!
Great memoir This is about a lot of things:
A kid growing up without a dad, with a mom that is a menace to any child, who succeeds against all odds.
How a totally imperfect but caring adult (his grandmother) can make a huge difference in a young life.
Why poor whites act the way they do.
I loved it
