Entertaining and informative A fascinating read on what doesn't work when we speak to strangers and why. Gladwell describes how our tendency to trust is necessary for society's general well being, but how it often leads us to ignore early warning signals. As always, his style is easy to read and understand which, in part, makes his books a pleasure to read.
Too much mindless survery data, and graphic conten I have enjoyed previous books by this author. He's a great story teller. On this one, he goes into long detailed studies on human behaviour, and shows survey data.. much more than could keep my interest. I went from one story to the next, and quit them all for lack of interest. I also did not enjoy reading the detailed info on sexual assaults, in two of the stories. Necessary I realize, to keep up with book's intent, just not expected. So why was this long detailed book written? To show us that we really are poor at assessing people's body language? And why is this the first review on VIRL? Lots have read it. I would have liked a warning that it's not an easy read.
